Welcome to Sense Workplace
Sense HR is now part of Sense Workplace – a single platform connecting HR, Ops and frontline teams with real-time data, automation and location insights

You may notice that our website now lives at senseworkplace.com . Don’t worry, you’re not in the wrong place! You’re still dealing with the same company, the same people, and the products you already know. But just in case you’re wondering what this new website means, we thought we’d take a couple of minutes to clear a few things up.
What happened to sense.hr?
There’s a good chance that you know us exclusively as Sense HR. Maybe you’re an HR administrator, who found us via our original website which was hosted at www.sense.hr – and if so, we’re delighted to see you. After all, with thousands of active users, Sense HR remains one of our most popular products, and we’re very proud of it!
But Sense HR is just a fraction of the technology that we deliver for busy organisations throughout the UK and beyond. And that’s because Sense HR exists as part of Sense Workplace – a comprehensive workforce management system that connects and supports people at all levels in your organisation. That includes HR administrators, operations managers, data analysts, recruiters, senior executives, frontline workers, system integrators and more.
So, even though Sense HR is a fine standalone product for managing HR information and automating the HR tasks you hate, and even though that product is very much alive and thriving… we found that hosting our website on the domain sense.hr was making some of our messaging confusing for other users of Sense Workplace. And so, we decided to clear things up with a more accurate website!
What is Sense Workplace?
We built Sense Workplace as a modern workforce management tool for busy organisations who manage hundreds or even thousands of busy workers. These organisations struggle to stay compliant with employment legislation, they struggle to locate and connect their busiest workers, and they struggle to understand what’s really happening at the coalface.
In practical terms, Sense Workplace is a platform with a lot of useful tools built on top of it. And when these tools come together, they support us in our six key missions, which are:
1. To include the workers other systems forget
Most workplace technology is designed for people who sit behind a desk. Yet 80 % of the global workforce is frontline or deskless, and only about 1 % of tech investment reaches them.
What’s more, employment contracts are not standardised across entire workforces. Especially not those with multiple sites, teams and disciplines. For example, you may find yourself managing seasonal workers, agency staff, freelancers, zero-hour contracts, part-timers, full-timers, and everything in between. There are very few tools out there that really understand this,
Sense Workplace was created to change all of that that. We included every type of worker by design, from day one: whether that’s part-time retail associates, full-time nurses, agency-sourced engineers, contractors, cleaners, field teams or seasonal staff.
2. To provide a single source of truth for HR and Operations
Operations and HR often run on separate systems, creating silos and endless double-handling. They often end up with different information about the same individual – and will rarely find a good time to talk to one another and sort all of this out.
With Sense Workplace, everyone shares the same live data – and this data is then fed into the different systems and interfaces that teams need to use. Meaning HR and Operations can both share the same system, to learn different bits of information, such as:
- Who’s on site
- What tasks are in progress
- Which contracts and entitlements apply
- Who is on long-term sick leave
- Where people are located
And with this single source of truth, there’s less room for human error – meaning people get paid faster, and more accurately.
3. To optimise shifts by revealing the location of people and things
There’s a lot of smart technology operating under the hood of Sense Workplace, including some highly accurate location technology that helps you to reveal the location of people and things.
Our goal here was to help team leaders, managers, and supervisors to optimise shifts – in a few ways.
For example, managers can respond more quickly to real-time emergencies, by deploying the nearest qualified team members to attend an area. Teammates can share valuable resources more effectively, by finding them faster and quickly seeing whether they are in or out of use.
Our indoor location technology is particularly important within busy frontline environments such as hospitals, warehouses and sprawling campuses or facilities.
4. To verify without micromanaging
One of the other big benefits of understanding who is where and when, is that you can verify what work got completed, and by whom – and you can backdate this historically, to help resolve disputes. For example, knowing that a cleaner attended a particular room could help you to prove that you met your service level agreement. Or you might simply be reassuring a family member of a dementia patient, letting them know how often their loved one had been visited on any particular day!
These are all things that are normally only possible through heavy-handed micromanagement, including a lot of breathing down necks and a whole ton of paperwork – paperwork that is easily manipulated, meaning that even when complete it doesn’t give customers, patients, or families the reassurance they are looking for.
But one of the biggest benefits of this location-based verification, is that it helps organisations pay their teams properly – without anybody having to argue over individual lines on timesheets, and without mistrust brewing.
5. To reveal important insights based on real workplace data
When senior management can understand how their workspaces get used and how their people move, they are better equipped to make real, high-impact changes within their organisation.
For example, by understanding which spaces are under-utilised or which spaces are overcrowded, they can design workspaces that help people feel their best and give their all. Or, by seeing how people perform when they interact with different people, high-performing teams can be created.
And the more data that gets fed into these decisions, the more accurate it is likely to be – which is why we wanted to build products within Sense Workplace where the different data points can compliment one another.
Sense Workplace delivers datasets that allow organisations to plan safer layouts, reduce wasted space, and make evidence-based decisions about future sites.
6. To connect and automate the manual processes you hate
Every organisation has unique workflows. And most organisations rely on a ton of disconnected systems that don’t work very well together.
We built the Sense Workplace platform to allow for custom workflows based on real business processes. But also so that you can connect your different systems and technologies together – whether that’s linking your Sense Clocks with your payroll provider, or location data with your daily task management system.
Sense Workplace means you no longer have to find workarounds or change the way you work – instead, the system adapts to suit you and your teams.
